Edmund Mickunas
Mr. Mickunas has over 40 years of experience across a breadth of disciplines including biotechnology, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, with the recent 15 years focusing on regenerative medicine and gene therapy. During his career Mr. Mickunas has worked closely with all disciplines involved in product development, with specialties in preclinical program development, clinical affairs, regulatory affairs and quality assurance. His experience in the cell therapy field is second to none.
Mr. Mickunas worked as Executive Director, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for Applied Genetic Technologies Corporation. After that, he served as VP of Regulatory Affairs for Advanced Cell Technology. He has also been serving as VP of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for HebeCell Corp, COO of Seeing Medicines, Inc. and Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance consultant for Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Development. It is worth mentioning that he led the first two human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived cell clinical trials to treat dry age-related macular degeneration as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Advanced Cell Technology.
Mr. Mickunas holds a master’s degree in Corporate and Political Communications from Fairfield University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
